Description

On Nov 9, AD 1008, Murasaku wrote the world's earliest realism novel.

"The Tale of Genji" is a million-character Japanese novel. This book tells the story of three generations of people which spans more than 70 years and has more than 400 characters. It mainly focuses on the story of Genji and his son Kaoru on their lives and relationship with other women. It reflects the power struggle and corrupted life among the nobles of the time. In that chaotic society, marriages were often used as a chip in political struggles, so most of them resulted in tragedy.

[Famous Quotes]

New grass, you don't even know where to sprout and grow. A sudare is enough to separate this unsuccessful love affair. Is there any meaning to dying from lovesickness? Love encounters are better than wealth. Whats grants you longevity in this world, may I ask? The heart is not understood but the scent of flowers reawakes forgotten love. Like a lonely boat, the loves drifts further away.
