Description
On Sep 5, 1400 BC, Ugarit, the city that first used the Phoenician alphabet, was destroyed by an earthquake.
There was a total of 22 letters in the script used by the Phoenicians, which were carved on seals. It was enough to write an entire paragraph, which surprised foreign businessman. As the popular Cuneiform script was too complicated, there was a need to create a simple script for documentation and communication. This was why the letters were created based on Egyptian alphabets and phonetic system. They were carved on stone or clay seals as tokens.
