Description
On Jun 14, 1562, by Bishop Landa's order, most of the Maya Codices were destroyed.
Maya Codices convey the culture and faith of the Maya. Engraved on paper made of the banyan tree bark, they record the Maya astronomy, calendar, and legends. Some codices even have a history of more than 800 years. They are typically named after the city where they were last preserved. Under Landa Bishop's order, many important information about the Maya civilization was erased.
