Description

On Sep 12, 1589, Galileo tested his law of falling bodies at the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

He dropped two spheres of different sizes but made of the same material. According to legend, they landed simultaneously, disproving Aristotle's theory that heavier objects fall faster than lighter ones. Aristotle's views on falling objects had been accepted for nearly 2000 years. However, there is no concrete evidence that Galileo conducted this test. Historians believe that this was more of a thought experiment than an actual historical event.
