Description

On Jun 7, 1889, Van Gogh created this famous painting in the mental hospital in Saint-Remy-de-Provence.

The Starry Night was completed in Saint-Remy when Van Gogh had another mental breakdown. He used exaggerated elements to vividly portray the stars moving in the dark sky, which formed a huge spiral from the yellow moon. It evokes emotions for the passage of time. Like the burning flames, the dark cypress trees seem to be dancing and celebrating with the stars, creating a sense of chaos in time and space.
