Description
On Mar 9, AD 1498, Leonardo da Vinci completed the most important masterpiece of the Renaissance.
In the Santa Maria Delle Grazie, Leonardo da Vinci created a fresco themed on the Last Supper where Jesus shared his final meal with the Twelve Apostles. Jesus is seen sitting in the middle alone with the Twelve Apostles placed on either side. The bright light emanating from the windows behind him illuminates his solemn and sober face. The strong contrast of the background draws all focal points to Jesus. The restless apostles next to Jesus have different facial expressions and movements. Especially the panicked Judas, who knocked over the salt shaker with his elbow and leaned back with his face full of fear and anxiety. The painting marks the peak of Leonardo da Vinci's artistic achievement.
