On Feb 28, AD 1353, Giovanni Boccaccio created this collection during the Renaissance.
The Decameron is a book of 100 stories told by 10 men and women living under the same roof to escape the pandemic. They include true historical events, real-life anecdotes, and legends told by merchants and travelers. These 10 people hid away from the society that was plagued by the Black Death and were free of the suppression of hierarchy and the church. This was why their stories reflected the true image of the society at that time.
