Description

On Jul 4, 182 BC, Hannibal, a famous general of Carthage, drank the poison and died.

After the defeat of the Second Punic War, Hannibal fled his hometown. Out of desperation, he took poison and killed himself in a foreign land. Before his death, he looked back on his life with a myriad of emotions. He thought of when he raised a wine glass and spoke vigorously, "If you can't make his soul surrender, then break the vessel of his soul!" Many years later when Rome defeated Carthage, Hannibal picked up the glass again. But this time, it contained the poisonous wine instead.
