Description
On Dec 18, 1831, Faraday invented the world's first electric generator.
Through electromagnetic induction, Faraday made a homopolar generator. Its mechanism is different from modern power generators. It does not contain a coil but a copper disc that rotates in the magnetic field. It has a handle fixed at the center of the disc. The edge and center of the disc are connected to a brush which connects it to the ammeter with a wire. The copper disc is placed in the magnetic field of the hoof-shaped magnet, which generates a current when the copper disc is rotated.
