Description
On Nov 6, 300 BC, Euclid completed the most famous work in the history of mathematics.
The 13 books of "Euclid's Elements" contain 5 hypotheses, 5 postulates, 25 definitions, and 48 propositions. It is a record of mathematical knowledge gathered during the ancient Greek era. It listed certain general facts according to definitions and axioms and used them to study the properties of various geometric shapes logically. It formed a solid logical system to prove propositions and obtain theorems and geometric arguments.
[Five Famous Axioms]
Things which are equal to the same thing are also equal to one another. If equals be added to equals, the wholes are equal. If equals be subtracted from equals, the remainders are equal. Things which coincide with one another are equal to one another. The whole is greater than the part.
