Description
On May 17, 1996, the cloning sheep Dolly was released to the public.
Dolly's genetic mother is a Finn Dorset sheep and both her mitochondrial and surrogate mother are Scottish Blackface. Their recombined genes made it possible for Dolly to be born. Dolly lived for only 7 years but it has provided lots of data for scientific research, including a new direction for saving endangered animals and protecting the ecosystem.
