Description
On Jun 21, 27 BC, the Roman Senate bestowed Octavian the title of Augustus.
Augustus was a religious title meant to mark the divinity. The owner of the title has higher authority than others. In addition, no statue can define the nature of the status of the owner. After the Battle of Actium, Octavian had removed all obstacles on his way. After his election as a consul, he pressed the Senate and gained the right to rule Spain, Gaul, and Syria, making him the princeps of Rome. This is a coin that commemorates his title.
