Description
On Sept 15, 1927 AD, Davisson and Germer discovered electron diffraction using this device.
Davisson and Germer, two American physicists, used this device in their Davisson-Germer experiment. They discovered electron diffraction by observing electron beam scattering from the surface of a nickel crystal and noticing a discontinuity in the spatial distribution of the scattered beams. This finding demonstrated electron fluctuation and supported De Broglie's theory that electrons have wave-particle duality, which served as the experimental foundation for quantum mechanics.
