Description
The treaty was ratified by the United Nations General Assembly. Its content consists of a preamble and 17 articles with the goal of promoting the equitable and peaceful exploitation of outer space, as well as enhancing international cooperation to pursue mankind's common interests. As the first codified law constituting the legal regime of outer space, its establishment has guiding significance for countries' activities in outer space. More than a hundred countries have signed the treaty to date.
