Description
On Sep 16, 1939 AD, Houmuwu Ding, the heaviest bronzeware in ancient China, was unearthed in Henan.
On that day, the villagers reburied the newly excavated Simuwu ding in order to prevent it from being taken away. This huge, majestic, finely crafted bronzeware weighs up to 1 ton. "Houmuwu" is engraved on the inner wall. The exquisite carvings of dragon and Taotie are all around the Ding's body. The body and the legs of Houmuwu Ding were cast as a whole, the handles, however, were added to the body afterwards. It is the biggest bronzeware unearthed so far in China.
