Description
On Dec 30, 1957, DeVore invented the world's first robot. Devore and Engelberg first met at a cocktail party, and the two bonded over a shared interest in science fiction. From then on, R&D funding was provided by Engelberg, while DeVore focused on inventing the "programmed object transfer," which was programmed to repeat the delicate tasks of grabbing and lifting. Before long, DeVore captured the world's attention by having a robot demonstrate making a goal, conducting a band, opening and pouring a can of beer, and more.
